Ahhh. Seems everything takes a little longer at the moment… I’m sorry, I’m a very slow person. But since I got asked about it, let’s finally start with some stuff from the BSC Scavenger Hunt! First of all, here are some solutions to riddles etc.

Day 5 - The Lucky Hunter

I already confirmed it to those who sent something in, but here’s what I was looking for.
Word 1 - The story’s title was “The Adventure of the Dying Detective”, so the last word in the plural is, of course, “detectives”
Word 2 - A word pronounced in the same way as the first letter “R” in “Reichenbach” (from “The Reichenbach Fall”) is “are”
Word 3 - In a smut fanfiction, Sherlock and John are most likely “fucking”
Word 4 - I was, of course, talking about Cabin Pressure’s Arthur here, and I think we can all agree that polar bears are “brilliant”!

So the sentence I was looking for was, of course, "Detectives are fucking brilliant" :)

Day 9 - Anagrams

1. WHICHEVER HOISTS, JOIN KNOLL! - Sherlock is in love with John (or the other way round)
2. A BREECHES FLUSH VIOL TROLLS MOMMY - Mycroft Holmes loves his umbrella
3. TITILLATE HIS KILOS - Loki is a little shit  :)

Day 10 - Scavenger Hunt

If you followed all the hints, they lead you to the question “When is Benedict Cumberbatch’s birthday?”, which is, of course, on July 19th :3

THIS IS FOR YOU GIRLS OMG

I AM BEING EMOTIONAL

WTF

IT IS OVER!
Girls, you have no idea… I was so excited counting your credits… I never took a look at preliminary results, so I wouldn’t subconsciously influence anything, so it was the first time for me to see how you all did. Of course I had some people on my radar who did exceptionally well, but the outcome was such a surprise!
Now, here you go:
1st rank with 136 credits is wolf-of-baskerville !2nd rank with 131 credits is jordan-ulysses !
(To see all credits, click the photo to enlarge.)
Now, the randomly picked winner… dunn-dunn-dunn…

…it’s 221b-holmes !

And last not least, here’s some trivia that might be of interest:
People who took part in less than 5 tasks were scratched from the final list. I’m sorry for that, but it just wouldn’t have been fair otherwise.
Only 6 people dropped answers for every single task! Unsurprisingly, those were the guys with the most credits (except for one person)
Only one late entry stayed till the very end.
Only two people came out with the same number of credits. Since everybody needed a significant number for the random pick, I decided to sort them in alphabetical order.
Guys? Thank you. Really, I mean it. A huge, epic THANKS to everybody who participated! This was so much fun, I loved every single of your submissions and answers, and I really hope that I can do another Hunt somewhen in the future.
But what is best about all this - I came in contact with so many awesome, nice, talented, beautiful people! I hope you all want to keep in touch, because woah - I already miss you, guys! :0
Honestly, I can’t say it too often: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
As a final note, I’m gonna contact our three winners asap. But you’re all winners! As promised, you’ll all get a silly banner for your blogs or other websites, as well as a coupon for 1x free shipping for my online shop. Furthermore, I’ll publish some of my favourite entries for some of the tasks over the weekend. Please be patient, since I’ll be out tonight (again!) and have stuff to do at home as well. And of course I WILL write those prompts. Maybe not over the weekend, but eventually.
Guys? Have a nice day. I love you.

i’m counting your credits - for the first time

OMG THIS IS SO EXCITING

i have no idea who might’ve won

This is your last reminder that I still haven’t gotten all answers to all tasks for the BSC Scavenger Hunt! I sent out all confirmations, so if you haven’t gotten yours, please contact me asap! I can only see if something was lost if I hear from you, otherwise I’ll have to assume you don’t want to send anything in!

Solution to Day 3: Quiz

As promised earlier (far, far earlier *sigh*) here are the correct answers for the quiz, along with some notes:

Questions (1 credit each):

1.    What is the special thing about the deer head in 221B?
It wears head-phones

2.    What shade was Irene Adler’s lipstick when she first met Sherlock Holmes?
Blood*

3.    Where do Sherlock and Sebastian Wilkes know each other from?
College/University

4.    What brand is Sherlock’s trademark coat?
Belstaff

5.    What did Sherlock take from Buckingham Palace?
An ashtray

6.    What part of his clothing does Jim Moriarty exhibit in “The Great Game” to make Sherlock believe he was gay?
His underwear/pants

7.    Which newspaper is Mycroft reading at the end of “The Reichenbach Fall”?
The Sun

8.    What’s the name of Mycroft’s peculiar club John is visiting in “The Reichenbach Fall”?
The Diogenes

9.    What does Sherlock use as a paperweight for his letters in “A Study In Pink”?
A knife

10.  What does Sherlock pour into John’s coffee in “Hounds of the Baskervilles”?
Sugar**

11.  At which famous public place of London is the second “bomb victim” in “The Great Game” located?
Piccadilly Circus

12.  At which number does the hit counter on John’s blog stop in “A Scandal In Belgravia”?
1895

Bonus questions (2 credits each):

In “Hounds of the Baskervilles”, John states that in their Cluedo game, the murderer can’t be the victim. What was the title of the original Sherlock Holmes story where the victim was actually also the murderer?
The Problem of Thor Bridge***

According to Benedict Cumberbatch, what are the two most significant facts about Rupert Graves?
He is good at football and has five children

On their way to Court in “The Reichenbach Fall”, there’s a quite catchy song playing in the background. Title and Artist?
“Sinnerman” by Nina Simone

In “A Scandal in Belgravia”, Sherlock is most likely consulted by the Queen herself. In which original Sherlock Holmes story, Holmes is also consulted by a member of the British Royal Family who doesn’t reveal their identity?
The Adventure of the Illustrious Client ****

How does Jim Moriarty break into the Bank Of England and Pentonville Prison in “The Reichenbach Fall”?
He has help on the inside*****

Trick questions (2 credits each):

What colour has the coat the Cabbie is wearing in ‘A Study In Pink’?
He doesn’t wear a coat at all (it’s a cardigan)

What is Molly Hooper’s favourite colour?
We can’t know, because it’s never mentioned in the series

Notes:

* I wasn’t sure if this one would be too difficult, but since many of you had “blood” or “blood red” right (it’s exactly what Irene calls it, blood) I decided to grant no credits for just “red”

** It was in fact plain sugar. Sherlock thought it must be the drug, but it wasn’t, of course - so just saying “a drug/poison” didn’t get you any credits

*** I got all sorts of weird answers for this one. Sure, there’s a couple of stories where the culprit turns out to be *a* victim at the end or is forced into the role of a victim, but that’s quite a motive in the Sherlock Holmes canon. A culprit also being some sort of victim isn’t the same as what I asked for. The only story where Sherlock Holmes is called for murder, though it turns out later that the victim was her own murderer (trying to frame somebody else) was, of course, “Thor Bridge”. If you haven’t read it, go do it, it’s fantastic

**** Same here. Some of you suggested “A Scandal in Bohemia”, which is wrong of course. First of all, the king’s identity is revealed right at the beginning. Secondly, he is the King of Bohemia, which makes him king of Bohemia and not Britain. Even more, since we all know that the Sherlock Holmes stories are set in something called The Victorian Era, we also know that the King of England is in fact a Queen of England who is called Victoria. But yes, Sherlock was consulted by some sort of king, so -

The other relevant suggestion was “Bruce Partington Plans”. Admittedly, the end of the story suggests that Sherlock Holmes meets the Queen after solving the case and gets a tie-pin from her. However, Sherlock wasn’t exactly consulted by the Queen herself, plus if she met him in person, that’s nothing to do with “not revealing her identity”. But since this is all Watson’s speculation, I decided to grant 1 credit for this answer.

***** He had an app for that, right? Nope. No app, certainly not attached to some mysterious computer code. He had help on the inside, which is revealed later in the episode. If you mentioned that, you got your credits, otherwise I’m sorry :(

That’s it! Very well done, everybody :3

Girls, I’ve gotta go to bed. The deadline just passed by, but I still hope that I’ll get some late answers for your tasks that are still missing. Especially the fanfiction - I’ve only gotten 8 entries so far. You really shouldn’t be afraid or something, I love every single one of your stories, you can’t do anything wrong! So if you haven’t sent in something yet - no matter for which task - but still want to, please do it asap.

Also, I’ll be checking the rest of your entries on the tag tomorrow morning (your songs etc.) so don’t panic: If you’ve uploaded and tagged it, I’ll find it ;)

However, if you’ve sent any submissions etc. and haven’t heard from me in a while, can you please contact me again? I really hope tumblr hasn’t eaten anything.

Catch you all tomorrow, sleep well :3

“When are you announcing the winner of the contest and when is the deadline?”
-Anonymous

The deadline is tonight, 11 pm GMT. I will have to sort it all out afterwards - there are some tasks which I want to have all entries for before awarding any credits. The winner will be most likely announced tomorrow evening.

Just your friendly reminder that there are still some of your tasks for the BSC Scavenger Hunt missing.

If you’ve sent out any answer but haven’t gotten a confirmation yet, please contact me again in case something got lost!

“Is there a missing "s" for question 1 of the anagrams?! I'm going crazy xD hahahahah”
-Anonymous

SHOOT ME PLEASE

Oh dear lord, what is wrong with me, what what WHAT? WHY AM I TOO STUPID TO TYPE SOMETHING DOWN

Yes. Yes, there’s an “s” missing. Aahahahaha. I quit. I’m such an idiot. I should probably kill off the whole task. I’m so so so sorry.

It’s supposed to say

1. WHICHEVER HOISTS, JOIN KNOLL!

Anagrams: A little help…

Okay. From what I’m hearing, some of you came pretty far with those, but I’ll give you a hand anyway.

First of all, though, I just reallized that I put a typo in the second one. AGAIN! *gross sobbing* Oh my dear god, this is so embarassing, shoot me please… Of course it’s

2. A BREECHES FLUSH VIOL TROLLS MOMMY (not mUmmy - sigh.)

Secondly, I already helped you a little: As I said, the first two anagrams involve both characters from Sherlock and “their hearts’ desires” (which means: love.)
I recommend you to go for names first: Try the most obvious ones. Then go for the “love”-thing.
The name in the second one is both first and family name.

The third anagram, however, also has a name in it… a name of another very well-known fictional character I’m stupidly in love with (but not from Sherlock). The rest of the sentence describes this very character.

I think this was enough help ;)

Uhm…

Since there are still so many answers to different tasks missing, I decided to push the final deadline to Tuesday, July 24th, 11 pm GMT! I hope that gives you enough time, but if there are any problems, feel free to contact me and we’ll see what we can do :)

On another note, NOBODY has solved the anagrams yet. I didn’t think they’re too difficult, but can you give me feedback please so if necessary I’ll give you another hint.

Now back to Nutella and Henry V.

BSC Scavenger Hunt Day 12: Save the last Dance

Once upon a time, there was a young, gorgeous man. He was a detective, a consulting detective to be precise, the only one in the world (because he had invented the job). His name was Sherlock Holmes. Though he was a genius and always pretended to function pretty well on his own, in fact Sherlock Holmes was next to nothing without his faithful blogger, his best friend and true love, John Watson.
Together, Sherlock and John had countless adventures over many years.
One day, however, they…

Rules:

  • Do whatever the fuck you like.
  • No restrictions, you have completely free hands at how to solve this task.
  • I won’t even give you ideas as what to do with it, it’s all up to you and your creativity.
  • I am dead serious.
  • You can gain up to 12 credits for this task.

As a very last word, I want to say THANK YOU to all who participated! This is your last task to solve! Give all you have for a last time, I’m looking forward to all your answers!

I GOT WIFI *yaaaaay* :D

Ok, the task for today will follow in a few minutes, I’m still having that migraine and it rains like there’s no tomorrow but YAY we’ll be having our open-air performance in less than an hour no matter what oh man we’re so hardcore

I already know that you’ll all hate me for the last task, but hey - it’s the last one and I had to insert something mean, I’m not even sorry *giggling*

I love you all to bits and pieces, so go for it and good luck! See you all later tonight :3

Quick shout-out…

…to the BSC Scavenger Hunt people :/

I’m still over at the theatre, no WiFi here and I’m having a massive migraine attack so… uh… I hope you’re alright and that I can give you the last task and further information when I come home, but I’m not quite sure, I’m so so sorry… I’ll try and manage everything, but it’s all a bit of a mess right now :0

Hope to see y’all soon, I’m trying not to faint or something (have another performance tonight)
Sorry for mewling :(
